How does controller handle ADP protocol when bcmc optimization is enabled in the vlan?

Jun 30, 2014 06:23 PM

Product and Software: This article applies to Aruba OS 6.1 and above.

As of AOS 6.2, when BC-MC Optimization is enabled in the vlan. Controller will drop all the broadcast and multicast frames on a VLAN except for ARP, DHCP, IPv6 router advertisement, IPv6 neighbor solicitation and VRRP traffic.

From AOS 6.3 and above, controller will drop all the broadcast and multicast frames on a VLAN except for ARP, DHCP, IPv6 router advertisement, IPv6 neighbor solicitation and VRRP traffic. mDNS will not dropped as controller supports Airgroup and its enabled by default.

From AOS 6.4 and above, controller will drop all the broadcast and multicast frames on a VLAN except for ARP, DHCP, IPv6 router advertisement, IPv6 neighbor solicitation and VRRP traffic. mDNS and DLNA will not be dropped as DLNA became part of Airgroup.

Starting from AOS 6.1.3.12, 6.2.1.6, 6.3.1.3, when BC-MC Optimization is enabled in the vlan. Controller will not drop ADP protocol.
