Why do iphones/ipads unable to discover wired airprint or airplay devices existing in same vlan?

Environment : This articles applies to Aruba Mobility Controllers running ArubaOS version.

Bonjour®, the zero configuration implementation introduced by Apple®, is supported by many Apple® product lines, including devices using the OS X operating system, iPhone®, iPod Touch®, iPad®, Apple TV®, and AirPort Express®. Bonjour uses multicast DNS (mDNS) to locate devices and the services offered by these devices.

Broadcast and multicast traffic is filtered out of a wireless LAN network in an effort to reduce network traffic. One way WLAN administrators do this is by enabling "Drop Broadcast and Multicast" in the Virtual-AP profile.

Enabling this feature inhibits Bonjour (mDNS) services, which rely on multicast traffic and the clients such as iPhones, IPads  will not be able to discover the servers such as Apple TV, Airprint enabled Printer offerring Airplay and Airpint services. Therefore, it is recommend you have this feature disabled for the clients to discover the servers.
