Why does Multicast traffic to UDP 5000 not work on our network?

Jul 09, 2014 12:06 PM

Environment  :

Standalone Master.
Any Aruba Controller, AP and Aruba OS.

Symptoms : Wireless clients not receiving multicast traffic.

There is a knob on the Controller firewall "stateful-ua-processing" i.e. Alcatel VoIP Application level gateway (ALG).

The controller would only accept any udp port 5000 which follows the proper formatting of the message.  This is why any other traffic on this port would get dropped.

We need to disable the ALG to keep our multicast traffic (in this case) as generic traffic instead.

# config term
# firewall disable-stateful-ua-processing
# write mem
