Setting up Presence Analytics in Aruba Central

Mar 27, 2017 09:37 AM

Q:

How to setup Presence Analytics in Aruba Central ?

A:

Central supports the Presence Analytics feature for AP deployments only. This feature is supported only on the APs running firmware versions 6.4.4.4-4.2.3.0 or later.

Following are the requirements to display presence analytics data in Aruba Central.

1.      In Network Services, Presence Analytics License should be assigned for the IAPs.

2.      Site should be created and site should be assigned to the licensed Instant AP.

When the above two steps are followed then we could see “Unassociated-and-Associated Clients” config will be pushed to the Instant AP which can be verified from the running config of the Instant AP.

For APs running 6.5.1.0-4.3.1.0, you can set a value within the range of 0–100 dBm. When set to 0 dBm, the AP reports the RSSI data of all clients to Central. When set to 20 dBm, the AP sends a report for all clients whose RSSI value is in the range of 20–100 dBm.

For APs running 6.5.0.0-4.3.0.x or a lower firmware version, Aruba recommends that you set a value of 100 dBm.
