What are the different types of notifications available and how to configure them ?

This article applies to Aruba Instant 6.2.1.0-3.3.0.0 or higher and managed by Aruba Central.

 

On Aruba Central web interface, "Notifications" are displayed in the top-right corner which keeps the user aware of the events happening on central across various groups.

Notifications are of different types and each type has a set of events that would be notified. Below table are the notification types and the respective events:

 

Notification Type

Device

  • New Virtual Controller detected
  • Virtual controller disconnected
  • New AP detected
  • AP disconnected
  • AP re-connected
  • Flagged AP

Client

  • New client connected
  • Client disconnected
  • Flagged client

IDS Events

  • Rogue AP detected
  • Interfering AP detected
  • Infrastructure attack detected
  • Client attack detected

User Management

  • New User account added
  • User account deleted
  • User account edited

 

User can choose the types of events that need to be notified. Click on Notifications in the top-right and then click on Settings symbol. Following windows pops-up:

  • Notification Type and Event can be selected.
  • Notification can be set specific to a Group
  • Enabling the email checkbox, send an email to the user when event occurs
  • Notification can be selectively deleted by using the cross symbol
