Q:
Which version of Aruba InstantOS includes support for BLE beacons?
Starting from Instant 6.4.4.4-4.2.3.1, specific IAP models support Aruba Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices, such as BT-100 and BT-105, which are used for location tracking and proximity detection. The BLE devices connected to an IAP can be monitored or managed by a cloud based Beacon Management Console (BMC).
IAP-324/325 come with inbuilt BLE hardware that communicates with the deployed beacons and report the details to cloud. Whereas, IAP-21x/215, and IAP-224/225 need to have a USB Beacon connected to its USB port to make capable of hearing the beacon.
NOTE: Only the Virtual-Controller (VC) from the IAP cluster communicates with Meridian Cloud and report the details of the beacons that are deployed.
