AP555 with 802.3at

If I use a single 802.3at connection to power AP555, will it function if IPM is turned on? Is IPM enabled by default on the AP555 using 8.6.0.1 Instant code?

Yes, it will function. But IPM will likely quickly apply restrictions as the AP gets even moderately loaded (and power approaches the 25.5W limit when on 802.3at).

IPM is disabled by default.

But AP-555 will operate on 802.3at with IPM disabled as well. However, it will apply a number of significant and fixed rerstrictions (8x8 radio becomes 4x4, tri-radio moe not supported, USB and second ethernet port disabled).

What would define as "moderately loaded"? 15 devices or something?

Re: AP555 with 802.3at

It's not just client load. Data being exchanged, configuration (RF power levels, bandwidth), regulatory limits, etc. all factor in.

An AP-555 consumes just 12W or so worst-case when idle, but consumption will increase rapidly depending on many factors.

That's why it may be hard to predict the exact operating mode of the AP when using IPM.

Makes sense. My 335s are roughly 12W as well, but thats under standard load here.
