I have seen many post of people asking how can you mix different models, and the well known answer is, "With the same Firmware".
But that not always possible, for example, I have a cluster with 20 IAP-205, the latest firmware as off today is 6.5.4.14_72510 for that model.

So I bring a new IAP-305 to the cluster, for the IAP-305 there doesn't exist the 6.5.4.14, the closest one in that branch is the 6.5.4.13, and in other branches it can go all the way up to 8.5.0.3_72498.

So what will happen in this scenario, will my 6.5.4.14 cluster recognice 305 APs with firmware 6.5.4.13 or 8.5.0.3?

And in other cases like If I buy another AP that it does actually support the 6.5.4.14 fimrware, but the factory preloaded firmware is on the 8.5 branch, can I downgrade it to the 6.5.4.14?

Please no assumptioms. I guess I am not the only one with this kind of problems

The statement you start with ("with the same firmware") still holds.

6.5.4.14.is available for IAP-305. If you can't access it for some reason, that should be fixed first.

Also, IAP-205 is not supported in software versions higher than 6.5.x.y (the platform is "parked" on 6.5), so it will not be possible to upgrade a cluster that contains both IAP-205 and IAP-305 to an 8.x release.

And yes, you may have to downgrade.

According to this link, there isn't the firmware 6.5.4.14 for the IAP-305, the same day that the 6.5.4.14 firmware was launched for other devices (4 oct 2019) was also launched the firmware 8.5.0.3 for other devices, but the 6.5.4.14 doesnt exist (at least on hpe site). So who should fix this?
