Appels wifi roaming

Re: Appels wifi roaming

Hi,

First of all, roaming is a client descision!

Saying that, roaming issues are most likely a WLAN design issue. Some best practice recommendations.

1. Start ALWAYS with a wireless design and site survey, by a certified engineer.

2. Place AP 15m apart from each other

3. Lower the transmit power on the APs, say 30mW (15dBm)

4. Disable the lower datarate all below 12Mbit or 24Mbit

5. Disable 2,4Ghz or keep the max. TX power 6dBm lower than the 5Ghz radio.

6. Enable 802.11r if all clients support

7. Enable 802.11k if no clients experience problems.

8. Design for the weakest STA

9. Primary and secondary coverage (15-30% overlap -70dBm coverage)

10. Do a valadation survey by a certified engineer.

Hopes the help you!

Hello,

Yes the clientmatch is activated and the coverage is sufficient on the site.

Incompatibility with A5 phones?

Regards,

Clientmatch will not help roaming.  It will attempt to move clients after they have been already associated for minutes.  That would be too late to help during a roam.

You should try to reduce the ARM maximum transmit power in both bands to ensure that your clients will roam faster and not stay associated to access points that have too much power.
