How to configure ethernet bonding in 8.2.10 and above versions

Apr 02, 2020 05:14 PM

Requirement:

Minimum we need two NIC cards to do bonding in Airwave.

Ethernet bonding command added in AMPCLI commands list from 8.2.7 version. In older version we use to login in to root shell to configure bonding.

We need three IPv4 IP addresses for eth0,eth1 and bond0

Solution:

In Airwave Ethernet bonding allows us to combine two or more network interfaces together in to a single virtual interface card which provides redundancy of NIC card and also increase bandwidth.

Configuration:

Steps 1: Create second NIC card in VM

Login in to VM host machine and navigate to Edit Virtual Machine Setting > Virtual Hardware > New Device >> choose Network option from drop down list and click add.

Step 2 : Configure eth1 interface from AMPCLI > Configuration > Configure Network Settings

Step 3 : Configure Ethernet bonding from AMPCLI > Advanced > Enter commands >> $ethernet_bonding

It prompts steps to enter bond interface IP details and restart the interface.

Note: Choose mode option depend on your requirement.

Below screen shots provide detail steps.

We may need to reboot the machine, if bond IP not reachable after network restart.

Verification

To verify bond configuration navigate to AMPCLI > Advanced > Enter Commands > $ifconfig.

Screen shot shows bond0 interface details.
