shell-init: error while upgrading AMP or running manual backup on CLI

Jun 25, 2014 05:18 PM

Issue : We may see errors in command line when we are upgrading the server or running manual amp backup like

shell-init: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories: No such file or directory

Resolution : You can safely ignore these messages, these are not error messages but a warning messages. The upgrade or backup will successfully finish.

However, the error/warning messages states that its not able to locate the (cwd) current working directory, so it happens because you’re still in the check directory which doesn’t exist anymore. Go to another directory, and you’ll see the warnings are gone.
cd /
/etc/init.d/named restart
/etc/init.d/named reload

Should fix this error
