switch stacking-swapping commander

    So i have a 2 x 2930M stack and the commander 1 has some blinking ports with errors.

     

    Can i add a sw3, then take out 1 and not have to reconfigure anything?

    i know they will reboot a few times possibly.

    or should i just make sw2 commander, add 3, then take out 1?

     

    running latest OS

    Please refer to the "Backplane Stacking Maintenance and Troubleshooting" chapter of the Aruba Backplane Stacking and VSF Best Practices on ArubaOS-Switch (ArubaOS-Switch 16.08) Technical Whitepaper...especially if you're going to add a new Backplane Stacking member (and consequently force the Commander member failover to Standby member before replacing it with a new unit) or if you're planning to replace the actual Commander.
