After two years of no funding for Category 2 (formally P2) products and services, USAC has announced that there will be enough funding to fully fund all eligible Category 1 and Category 2 Funding Requests at all discount levels. Earlier today, USAC sent the FY2015 Demand Estimate to the FCC. With a Funding Cap of $3.9B and a total demand estimate of $3.919B, it seems the increased Funding Cap in the FCC’s Second Report and Order and Order on Reconsideration was right on par; almost prophetic. The FCC also directed USAC to fully fund eligible Category 1 and Category 2 funding requests for FY2015. USAC also announced on the May Service Provider Conference Call that the first wave of Funding Commitment Decision Letters will be issued within the next week or two.
So be on the lookout for a tidal wave of funding coming for schools and libraries across the nation.
