Android Upgrade lost Onboard certificates

    Hey guys,

     

    I just recently upgraded my corporate Android device to Android 4.3.

    This device had been Onboarded.

    After the upgrade I noticed that I was no longer able to connect to the corporate WiFi using 802.1x.

    When I checked the wireless profile I noticed that there was no CA or client certificate selected. We have Android setup to us EAP-TLS. And from the dropdown list there are none listed.

     

    It appears as though the upgrade removed these certificates.

     

    I was just curious if anyone else is seeing this sort of behavior on the Androids? I know this isn't related to Aruba, I am just curious!

    Yes it's an issue with androids upgrade. I did a post a while back when I upgraded mine and a few others confirmed that they had the same issue.

    Do we know if it exists going from 4.3 to 4.4? Or is it only going to 4.3?

    I haven't tried it on 4.4. I believe it just depends on what patches are included in the OS. There were security enhancements in that patch and one that Verizon pushed for the S4 was what caused the ca to be removed.

    Ironically enough it was a Samsung S4 where we first saw this behavior.

    We have a first gen Nexus 7 that should be ready for the upgrade to 4.4 I can do a test and see if the information gets wiped there as well.

     

    But given that is was a Samsung upgrade who knows what other crazy stuff they push in!
