How do I convert a stack port to a normal port on an Aruba Mobility Switch?

Jun 30, 2014 03:27 AM

Environment        This article applies to all Mobility Access Switches running a minimum AOS version 7.3.0.0 and Above.

Answer                By default some ports on the Aruba Mobility Switch are configured as stacking-port. For example 1 port of S1500 and 2 ports of S2500 are configured as stacking-ports. We can convert those ports from a Stack port to a normal port and vice versa.

Use “show stacking interface“ command to find the interface configured as stacking-port

(ArubaS1500-12P)  #show stacking interface

stack1/1
--------
stack1/1 is administratively Enabled, link is Down, line protocol is Down
Speed: N/A, MTU: 9224 bytes, Link flaps: 0
Last update of counters:        0d 00:00:00 ago
Last clearing of counters:      0d 00:00:00 ago
Link status last changed:       0d 00:00:00 ago

    0 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
0 error octets, 0 CRC frames
    0 multicast, 0 unicast
    Transmitted 0 frames, 0 octets

    0 broadcasts, 0 throttles

Delete the stacking interface as below and use "show interface brief " command to verify the port

(ArubaS1500-12P) (config) #delete stacking interface stack 1/1

(ArubaS1500-12P) (config) #show interface brief
