Port Tunneled Node on Uplink Port?

    Hi,

I'd like to run port tunneled mode from our edge switches to our 7240xm mobility controllers.  Unfortunately our edge switches are 2530Gs and don't support tunneled node.

So, my question is, if I uplink my edge switches to a 2930 and port tunnel on the 2930 uplink ports instead, will it work?

Is there any limit to the number of clients or mac addresses per tunnel?

I'm not too bothered about authentication, i'm mainly doing this for segregation at present.

(It would be great if I could just tunnel the whole VLAN on the 2930, but that doesn't seem to be possible.)

    No, it is not possible

    Thanks for your reply alagoutte,

Could you tell me what would prevent it from tunnelling uplink traffic for many users on one port?

I can't seem to find any reference in the documentation.

    Many thanks.

it is limited to 32 Users (using Port Tunnel by User)

I'm trying to tunnel by port.

Please help me understand why that wouldn't work on an uplink port?

All traffic will be in on tunnel Node...

I will be very strange... (like for the management traffic for remote switch...)

I'm testing a dedicated uplink with traffic only from the VLAN I want to tunnel. All other vlans (inc management) use a separate dot1q tagged uplink.

It doesn't work but I can't see why!?

Do you have check loop ? (spanning-tree)

Spanning Tree is disabled, but there is no loop.
