    Hi guys,

I have a 3600 WLC runnig AOS 6.1.3 . I have a bunch of AP105 in 2 floors. I understand that these AP's will negotiate to the N band automatically ( correct me if I am wrong).

The thing is that when I am reviweing the connected clients I only see A and G bands connect . I also see a bunch of clients connected to  A HT 40MHZ ( is this N band?)

    So my question is:

    1. is this correect?

    2. if not, how can i make sure my clients always connect to N or prefer N over any other band?

3.Is there a way to make sure N is configured correctly? I know the clients needs to support N as well and maybe prefer the 5ghz band.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    #3600

When you a client using HT either on 20 / 40 channels it means is using .11n, High Throughput(HT) is one of the features in .11n

    Thanks,!

    That was my suspicion.

Now, is there a way to force the clients to prefer HT over any other band?

Maybe in the wireless card configuration?

It depends on the network card. Some Intel-based cards have the option to say only connect to 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n. I am not sure if selecting 802.11n will be 2.4 or 5.o or maybe both frequencies. Look at the settings for the wireless of the clients.
