AP-207 and AP-11 mesh setup

    Hi guys,

     

    How can i create a mesh network from an AP-207 (instant) and an AP-11 (instant on)

    Hi Steven,

     

    We cannot mesh IAP and Instant On together.

    Maybe you can try to configure the SSID from Instant On as Wi-Fi uplink on IAP.

    Is that the only solution I could try? Both Access points are connected on the same network with a network cable.

    Yes Steven. Since they run different OS you cannot configure mesh.

    Hi,

    Can i use the option Enforce uplink over Ethernet for this? Because the Access points are to far from each other? But they are connected at the same switch.

    Do you intend to keep both APs connected to the same switch permanently?

     

    Please explain why you are looking for Mesh solution if both of them have wired connection to the same network/switch?

    Hi,

    Yes I’m intend to keep them connected to the same switch. One AP is at the first floor and the other at the third floor. When I walk from downstairs to the third floor I want that my devices are connecting from one AP to the other AP without interruption.

    Hi Steven,

     

    The best that can be done is to configure same SSID name, VLAN  and security parameters on both APs.

     

    When you reach third floor your device will scan for the previously connected SSID name. As long as the AP in third floor broadcasts the same SSID, with matching security configuration, the device will get connected.

     

    Are you seeing any issue when you roam to third floor?

    Hi,

    I already tried that, but when I’m getting at the third floor the connection from the first floor is still active at the device even if the WiFi signal from the third floor is stronger.

    Do you face the issue only on third floor?

     

    What AP do you have on first floor? If you have IAP in first floor, you can try to reduce the Tx power level.
