AP showing up on controller with wrong model #

    I've got a new AP315 installed but it is showing up on the controller (6.5.4.3-FIPS) as an AP314. Any idea's?

    Haven't seen that before, can't find anything related in the release notes (for 6.5.4.8, latest in branch) either.

     

    If you can easily upgrade to the latest version, I would give that a try so you can verify if the issue is still there, and have a better starting point for further troubleshooting. Also, 6.5.4.8-FIPS is a Conservative Release. If an upgrade is not easy, leave it at this version for now.

     

    Please open a case with Aruba TAC Support to get this investigated.

    Did you ever resolve this? We just purchased an AP-315 but the controller is showing it as a 314 and we can't provision it. The info on the unit and the box states that it's clearly a 315.

    What version of ArubaOS?

    Did you factory reset the AP?

    OS 6.5.4.15.Yes I used the button on the back. I don’t have a serial cable to CLI into
    it. Why can’t Aruba standardize on console cables? I had to buy a special
    one for the 303H models, now this one as well.

    Does it show up on the controller?  How did you obtain it?

    Yep, as a 314 but it’s clearly a 315. Bought through Amazon, new and sealed.

    How does the OS determine an AP model? Is it by serial number or MAC address?

    The hardware has it embedded.  If it is showing a different model, you might have something defective
