About the new Aruba 510 series APs

    Hi community,

I have a doubt about the new Aruba 510 series APs. If I compare it against the 320 series, the 510 appears to be better. Not only 510 series has all the features the 320 has, but also has higher order modulation, higher practical maximum client count, Zigbee radios or even one Smart Rate port. Furthermore, it supports new 802.11ax standard.

How can the 510 series APs be cheaper than the 320 series? How can the 510 series APs cost just only $100 more than the 310 series, which is a much lower series? Has Aruba reduce the production costs? Does Aruba have a new and cheaper chipset supplier? I see no reasons. Maybe Onno or Herman can clear up my doubt. Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Julián

That's how progress in technology works  ;-)

However, there are a couple of areas where the AP-325 is superior to AP-515:

    - AP-325 has a 4x4 radio in the 2.4GHz band, while AP-515 only supports 2x2 MIMO

    - AP-325 supports POE on both Ethernet ports (redundancy), whereas AP-515 only supports that on E0

    - Power consumption is a bit lower on AP-325

Yeah, you are right about those areas, but the AP-515 is still much more powerful than the AP-325, and still surprised about the price. Except some very specific cases, I will start to offer the AP-515 instead of 315/325/335/345. Customer will be happy, cheaper and support for the new 802.11ax standard, future proofing :)

    Sounds good Julian.

802.11ax pushes everything up a level.

So don't worry, even more powerful (and more expensive) access points are coming soon.
