Argh, so Apple devices connected to our campus wifi via Aruba mobility controller are no longer being redirected to a captive portal. They just sit and time out when launching Safari. My suspicions are with the recent release of Apple's OS X 10.8.3 update.

It used to work previously with the "walled garden" feature we have set up, which basically permits http/https access to *.apple.com in our captive portal role.

Not sure which address I need to be whitelisting now... has anyone else had any luck?

    Thanks in advance.

Are you seeing OCSP traffic being denied in the user firewall state table?

We have just started having this exact problem.  Did you find a solution?

    Thanks.
