    Hi,

I have a PoE+ 802.3at switch, can I use it to power Aruba 535 or do I need 802.3bt? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Zaid L,

This is documented in de AP-530 datasheets, link.

    • When powered by DC, 802.3bt (class 5) POE or 2x 802.3.at (class 4) POE, the AP will operate without restrictions.
    • When power by 1x 802.3at, the AP will disable the USB port and disable the other Ehternet port.  In the same configuration but with IPM enabled, the AP wil start up in unrestricted mode, but may dynamically apply restrictions depending on the POE budget and actual power. The feature restrictions and order can be programmed.

So in this case I will need two ethernet drops per AP if I am using 802.3at ?

One interface with 802.11at is OK when you dont need the second interface and USB port. (with IPM disabled).

If you need USB or the second interface 802.11bt is recommended instead of 2x 802.at because you then need double building cabling.
