I have configured a set of 175's to connect via mesh.   To do this I connected both ends to the network first and uploaded the config to them.  My coworker brought up a good point though.  Is there a way to have these connect via mesh right out of the box if perhaps they mount them before they are configured?  Thanks.

There is no way for controller-based APs to do this.  There is a mesh profile that would need to be pushed to the AP to configure it from the controller.  If you are using a preshared key for your mesh, that would have to be pushed encrypted from a controller, so I would say no...

    Yes,

Out of the box ( Factory default) AP 175 will discover the Master and downloads default AP-Group and default AP-Group will not be mapped to any "Mesh Cluster profile" ( Blank)  therefore campus AP can not work as a mesh AP ( portal or point) with factory default or out of the box.

Please feel free for any further query on this.

Even if there was a mesh profile assigned to the default ap-group, an access point would have to be provisioned with a mesh role to work.  This would not work "out the box".
