    Hi,

I am relatively new in networking and would like to know the best way to copy the entire configuration of a suspected faulty 800 controller to a spare 800 controller?  Will copying the running/start-up config enough to do this or copying the entire back up of the flash (flashbackup.tar.gz)??

    I will appreciate any response.

    you would restore the flashbackup.

Change the vlans and port details as necessary if they are going to change.

    The process is basically this.

    do flashbackup
    copy flashbackup to new 800
restore flashbackup to new 800 (don't reboot yet)
    Install Licenses to New 800
    reboot.

A couple of comments to add to Michael_Clarke's answer:

Transfer licenses through licensing portal if the destination 800 will use the same licenses

    Install Licenses to New 800
DO NOT WRITE MEMORY if asked

    reboot.

A KB article is available for this process.  It is outdated a bit, but concepts are the same:
