    Hi,

we have a customer in retail that would like to know the number of customers visiting its shops. The way they would like to do this is by counting all wifi devices (smartphones) in the vicinity of their shop APs (not associated).

Seeing that these devices send wifi probes ever so often which can be picked up by the APs (potentially in airmonitor mode), theoretically this should be possible.

Is there someone who has done something similar?

    KR,

    Mark

You would need something like ALE:  http://www.arubanetworks.com/products/networking/ale/
