I just want to share this with you guys ....

Someone asked me how to isolate switches using the management ports and trouble shoot any problem in case something blows up in my main network … actually all my S2500 Mobility Switches and 3600 Wireless controllers are isolated using management ports with a different IP and subnet.

    Use SSH or Telnet …

Assign an static IP to the port from the MGM Network (10.10.10.20 was a test) and save the configuration...

Assign a description to the port and specified on which port of the Management Switch is connected  (for reference and easy troubleshot ..)

     Regards,

Dark management networks are a great use for those old Cisco switches you just replaced ;)
