    Did you try resetting to a password that does match the default password policy?  Aruba123! for example should work.

    In password recovery mode that is all you can do. So reset the passwd and then log in with the new credentials to do the factory reset.

    Issue fixed;

    • perform a boot break from the console port at 'Hit ctrl+X to stop autoboot:'

         cpboot>
    • change the config file environment variable

         setenv cfgfile default1.cfg
         saveenv

    • issue the 'reset' command

    • reconfigure the device with the initial setup dialog (full-seup), system will reboot when complete

    • perform a boot break at 'Hit ctrl+X to stop autoboot:'

    • unset the config file environment variable

         setenv cfgfile
         saveenv

    • issue the 'reboot' command

    • login to device from console when prompted

    • issue 'write mem' command

    There are two times to break the boot process.  Wait for the second time after cpboot starts to load. Then ctrl + x and you should be at the cpboot prompt.
