Recommended ARM Settings for Hallway Deployment

We are looking for the optimal ARM settings to deploy for residence halls that have several AP-335 deployed in hallways.  Ideally we will be upgrading cabling and installing AP-303H inside the rooms, but for now this is how we are providing wireless coverage.

For most of our configuration we followed the Aruba "RF and Roaming Optimization for Aruba 802.11ac Networks" design guide.  Since we are using a less than ideal AP deployment model, we need some help tweaking the ARM settings to provide optimal coverage while limiting the amount of co-channel interference.

For reference, here are the recommended values:

    Open Office: 5 GHz: Min 12/Max 15 2.4 GHz: Min 6/Max 9
    Walled office or Classroom: 5 GHz: Min 15/Max 18 2.4 GHz: Min 6 /Max 9

With the recommended settings we see very poor signal strength inside the rooms.

Rather than changing power settings by trial and error, we are hoping someone has already figured out optimal ARM settings for this type of environment.

The output of "show ap arm state ap-name <ap-name>" for APs in the hallway are showing no neighbor data found, which doesn't seem right.  We are running ArubaOS 8.2.0.0.

    Thank you in advance

There are no recommended arm settings for the hallway deployments, because it is not recommended. ;)

How far apart are the APs and how high are they mounted?

Do you have an MM deployed?  If yes, you are using Airmatch, if no, you are still using ARM.

    Hi Colin,

You're preaching to the choir on this one :-)

The APs are between 20 and 40ish feet from eachother and they are usually mounted 7 to 9 feet from the floor.

We are using a MM, didn't realize that changed Airmatch/ARM, but I'm still new to the platform.

You should type "show airmatch debug nbr ap-name <name of ap>" to see if you can see neighbors.

ARM commands should not work in 8.2 when you have an MM deployed.  If you don't have an MM in 8.2, ARM is in use, by default.
