Hi all,
Im new to Aruba , and need to know the following please :
- what is VAP? is it same as SSID?
- For each ssid created, we have to create all profiles regardless if it doesnot require 802.1x or AAA profile?
- Do we have to create or assign a user role on each ssid?
Thanks,
dana
A VAP is a Virtual AP. It has everything you need to broadcast a wireless network, including the network name, encryption, and authentication if necessary. Every VAP requires a AAA profile; Only some types of Virtual APs require a 802.1x profile. You assign the initial user role in the AAA profile.
You should take a look at the Aruba Solution Exchange article (support login required) on how to create an SSID here: https://ase.arubanetworks.com/solution/name/generic_ssid_non_snippet/
If you do not have a login, you should look at basic configuration in the document here: http://www.arubanetworks.com/pdf/technology/DG_WLAN_Base_Configuration_ArubaOS31.pdf
or in the video here: http://www.arubanetworks.com/controller_setup_video.html
