I have some APs to migrate to a new controller pair (8.4 on the new WLC) I am planning on provisioning them on the old controller to point to the new controller. The AP groups are different on the new controller pair and I wonder how the APs will behave if the new controller does not have the AP group they were in on the previous controller.

They will appear on the controller but will not broadcast any SSID's due to the "G" Flag (G = No such group). Previously i've found if you temporarily add the original group to the new controller the AP will broadcast. You can then change the AP to the correct group if required.

Thats fine, as long as they appear and can be provisioned on the new controller into their new group that will be OK.
