    AAP-634s NOT working

Getting this message:  "Antenna gain not provisioned for external antennas"

    Running 8.11.2

Can find no setting in GUI for external antenna gain and CLI commands do not seem to work either.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Your antenna gains are a fixed value in dbi that need to set in your configuration.

Note that some countries in europe don't support 6ghz external antennas in the country regulations.

    Which country you are?

Full support for standard power 6 GHz APs isn't coming until 8.12, with 8.11.2 you must configure the antenna gain of the AP by provisioning the AP through the CLI.

    #configure terminal
    (config) #read-bootinfo ap-name <name>
    (config) #provision-ap
    (config-submode)#a-ant-gain X
    (config-submode)#g-ant-gain Y
    (config-submode)#x-ant-gain Z
    (config-submode)#reprovision ap-name <name>
    (config-submode)#write memory

Make sure you provision a value for all three antennas otherwise the command will fail.

    Hey Carson,

Thanks for the info.  How's things?  This issue is at the new OU Softball stadium and the first game of the season is at 2pm.

    Hello Carson,

We are also planning to deploy AP-634s with AOS 8.11.2.

Is there a link or document for the recommended gain to set per radio?

We currently have AP-ANT-320 and AP-ANT-328 antennas.

    Thanks!

    Alex

You should always be setting the gain based on the published gain of the antenna.

For antennas without an integrated pigtail you'll need to factor in the losses from the cable, connectors, and lightning protection if installed.
